Title: SEO Manager

How long have you worked at Catalyst?

I have been at Catalyst for six months.

How long have you worked in SEO and what type of clients have you worked on?

I have worked in SEO for about 13 years. I have worked for clients and brands in industries like ecommerce, travel, and self-service. I have supported enterprise clients as well as smaller local businesses.

How did you get your start in SEO?

I got my start by getting a BS in Communications Technology. I then went straight into web development and production.

I began my career by working at small shops who supported local businesses. Overtime, I transitioned into the agency world and now support global and enterprise clients.

What do you like most about working at Catalyst?

Catalyst has a great leadership team. The team is confident, personable, caring, and passionate.

What has been your greatest achievement or success in SEO?

I would have to say my greatest achievement is the custom tracking solution that I lead and support for a large client. It utilizes Facebook data and has resulted in highly strategic optimizations that have led to great success over the holiday period.

Another achievement that comes to mind is the dashboards that I made for a key client. The dashboards automated 20% of the team’s reporting during the holiday period. It helped them spend less time on manual Excel work, and more time on strategy and action. It led to fantastic results and praise from the client.

In your opinion, what is the most important SEO trend or change for 2021?

I think the most important trend is user experience and web vitals. I know user experience is not a new concept, but I’m passionate about its importance. We all value websites that are responsive, intuitive, and that harmoniously align business goals with user needs. Google’s emphasis on web vitals pushes websites to be better and that, in turn, makes users happier, and businesses more successful.

If you had to give one recommendation to an advertiser who wants to use search or social marketing to achieve business results, what would it be?

Make decisions based on data, but do not ignore the user experience, quantitative and qualitative. Once you have the quantitative data, search for the WHY.

Share a fun fact about yourself

I once met Metallica front man, James Hetfield, at the Tower of London. We both happened to be viewing the royal Crown Jewels at the exact same time.
